SUMMARY:SBIR/STTR Workshop -- GateWay CC
DESCRIPTION:This workshop begins with some basics of the SBIR/STTR programs. It will then covers the process for developing a competitive Phase 1 SBIR or STTR proposal to any of the 11 participating agencies. The workshop is suitable for newcomers to the SBIR/STTR programs\, as well as those who have previously submitted Phase 1 proposals but have not received awards. Even successful Phase 1 winners will find relevant and useful information\, particularly as the SBIR/STTR programs evolve toward greater emphasis on commercialization. \nAfter this session you should be able to….. \n\nUnderstand the basics of the SBIR/STTR programs.\nAppreciate the emphasis on commercialization.\nKnow the benefits of a University Partnership.\nKnow how to find a research partner in my field at a University\nIdentify what steps you need to take to become a partner with ASU\n\nIf any of the following apply to you\, this is a don’t miss event that fills quickly: \n\nEarly stage technology based businesses actively engaged in fundraising\nNewcomers to the SBIR/STTR programs\nBusinesses who have previously submitted Phase 1 proposals but have not received awards\nSuccessful Phase 1 winners\n\nThis workshop will be presented by John Mitchell\, Arizona State University’s Industry and Innovation Director.  John’s career progressed from engineering\, engineering management\, marketing and finally management of multinational joint ventures within a Fortune 100 environment. That was during the telecom/wireless revolution.  During the Internet revolution\, he helped a number of Silicon Valley startups grow their sales exponentially and then took that collective knowledge to launch his own startup company. After successfully selling his startup through a software licensing arrangement\, he joined academe. \nJohn now helps Arizona State University expand its research enterprise by leveraging the skills he developed during the course of his career.
